Noncommissioned officer in charge of audio engineers
Loren Zimmer has been working as a professional audio engineer for nearly 20 years. As a graduate of Northeast Community College in Norfolk, Nebraska, Zimmer received an associate’s degree in audio recording technology. Immediately following graduation, he won an audition with the United States Air Force Band in Washington, D.C., as part of its Technical Support office. He currently serves as the Band’s head audio engineer, managing a team of six. Zimmer is responsible for ensuring that all productions are carried out with the highest quality audio possible, including the Band’s flash mobs, holiday shows, and military tattoos. In 2015 he had the opportunity to deploy and provide audio and technical support to a military rock band for three months throughout Qatar, Afghanistan and Jordan. During his tenure at the Band, Zimmer has had the opportunity to study under and work alongside several Grammy Award-winning engineers, including Charles Harbutt, Bob Dawson, and Greg Lukens, as well as work with several al guest artists, including Melinda Doolittle, Arturo Sandoval, and Jo Dee Messina. His work on those shows has garnered him two regional Emmy Awards.
