An in depth practical course on how to make films that are intended to be used in your church services
Whether you’ve never picked up a camera before or have made a few videos and are looking to improve, this session will help you to gain skill and knowledge that will get you to the next level. If you want to learn about basic, basic stuff, like setting up lights, how to spend money wisely, cameras, lenses, prepping, visual composition and music, then this beginner level class is for you. You will enjoy learning from Nathan’s hilarious missteps, failures, and how to avoid land mines. You will also hear about his successes and glean from his lessons learned. There are tools, tricks and tips that Nathan has learned from 13 years of experience that will help you achieve your own desired results. Learn how to interview, create promos, use motion graphics, create sermon bumpers, showcase building campaigns, understand stop motion, and everything else under the sun related to filmmaking. There will be plenty of opportunity for interaction so come with any scenarios, concerns and questions you have.

Intermediate Level Filmmaking session is available Thursday from 9:30 am – 11:15 am

Nathan is a rocket scientist turned filmmaker. In 2005 he graduated from Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University with a degree in Aerospace Engineering and worked briefly as an engineer. During that time he learned to be a filmmaker on the side and began serving as a director. Now he is devoted to filmmaking full-time. His engineering background has served him well in production, creativity, organization, leadership, and technology. Nathan has been producing films of every genre for the church and other clients for the last 13 years. Currently he is the Worship and Creative Arts Pastor at Grace Point Church in San Antonio and oversees all aspects of worship and artistic expression for four live services in two locations each weekend. He has been married for 13 years and has 6 children.
